Honestly, I have never been a fan of leave-in conditioners until last year. I found 2 staple leave-in conditioners that I live by. I alternate between a moisturizing leave-in conditioner and a protein leave-in conditioner to ensure that my hair is balanced. I recently adopted a new leave-in that definitely helps smooth my hair when beginning my wash n go styling process of which I have been using occasionally during these hot summer months. Check them out below:
Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner Staple
Karen’s Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia Leave-In: I have been using this product for about a year now and love how my hair looks and feels, especially before applying a styling product. It makes my hair super-easy to finger-detangle. I work it through my hair in sections and then twist, letting down each section to apply product for my wash n go.
This product does not contain sulfates, parabens, or mineral oil.
Ingredients: Purified Water, Jojoba, Avocado and Coconut Oils, Vegetable Wax, Panthenol, Arnica, Calendula, Echinacea, Nettle & Horsetail Extracts, Vegetable Glycerin, Wheat Germ Oil, Essential and/or Fragrance Oil, Ascorbic Acid & Vitamin E
BE Kekoa Smooth Leave In Conditioner: Natural Hair Artist Brandie Kekoa of Be Kekoa Hair Studio in Temecula, CA created the Be KeKoa curly hair product line and I love her leave-in conditioner. This leave-in has helped a great deal in smoothing out my strands prior to applying product on days when my curls/waves are being unruly. Be Kekoa Leave-In also makes the detangling process easier, especially if used after the Be Kekoa moisturizing conditioner. Its all-natural and can be used daily, sans the build-up and residue.
Ingredients: Organic Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) leaf juice, diestearyldimonium chloride, Vegetable Glycerin, Cyclopentasiloxane (dimethicone), Castor Isostearate Succinate (castor oil)*, Persea Gratissima (avocado) fruit oil*, Wheat Protein, Polydimethylsiloxane, etc.

Protein Leave-In Conditioner Staple
Lacio Lacio: Often referred to as a “Dominican product” (which means it can be found in your local beauty supply store in the section where Dominican products are sold). Lacio Lacio promises to provide high shine to the hair, and it delivers. This high shine protein based conditioner packs a lot of punch! It adds shine to dry and porous hair and I especially use it prior to straightening my hair with a blow dryer.
Ingredients: Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Hydrolyzed Silk, Dimethicone Copolyol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Panthenol, DMDM Hydantoin Methylparaben, Propylparaven, Fragrance, Colorant Free.
